What do you do after a successful encore performance, originally meant to be a one-off, of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here done strictly for the fun of it?

For the future members of The Eye Captain, the answer was clear: keep the vibe, but make it original. The desire to be in a tribute band just wasn't there, but the inspiration was undeniable.

The result of that inspiration is "Jane and Milo in the Afterglow," a new song that didn't quite want to end. What began as a standalone song evolved as pieces were added with each session; instrumental bits connected what might have been hooky, quirky pop songs on their own, and certain parts made it clear they wanted to recur.

Finally, capped by a string of exactly 17 triumphant E-flat chords, the 40-minute space-rock operetta was complete. While it is decidedly NOT a Pink Floyd knock-off, you may notice a nod and a wink here and there.

This is a piece you won't hear on the radio or that is able to be streamed in separate bits without losing its identity. For those who want to take the journey, the full piece was officially released as a single (!!) on October 31, 2025.
